Facts on the American Revolution

The American Revolution started in the 1600s after the ending of the French and Indian War

Due to this war, the British Kingdom was left in debt, and to pay for this large debt, Parliament, or better known as the British Government, decided to tax the Colonies of the New World, now known today as America. The Revolution started after many acts of unfairness against the colonies, and after that start of the war, many battles were fought in :

And it was at the battle of Yorktown that the people of Colonial America won the fight with the aid of the French Army.

In the midst of the Revolution against Great Britain, one of the most important documents in our nation's history was procured. The Declaration of Independence was authored by the Committee of Five, a group of men consisting of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman, though most of the work was given to Thomas Jefferson who later presented his declaration to the fifty-six delegates of all the colonies, during the Second Continental Congress.

After being approved by John Hancock, the president of this congressional meeting, and his vice president, the rough draft of our Declaration were rushed to the Dunlap Print Shop where one hundred to two hundred copies were printed and quickly rushed to all the major towns in Colonial America.

Years following the American Revolution, another important document following the Declaration of Independence was written to regulate news laws in the New World. Inspired by various other legal papers from around the world, the Constitution was written by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Thomas Paine, and John Adams throughout the summer of 1787.

With three sections, split in to seven articles, the Constitution grants certain powers to the different branches of our government, and speaks of the rights of the people.
