Many celebrities and sports team have been participating in wearing pink. So this may be the reason you have seen sports teams wearing pink. During the month of October there are many marathons and events to raise money for Breast Cancer, some big organizations are Making Strides against Breast Cancer, and the Avon walk. These events help raise money and are held almost all over the United States.

Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancer for women in the United States. And also one of the most leading causes of death. In this year alone 300,000 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Although you may think you might not get Breast Cancer because of family background, it actually has nothing to do with family genetics. In United States there are over 2 and a-half million Breast Cancer survivors.

One big event that goes on for Breast Cancer is the Avon walk. This event is 2 days (during the weekend) and is also a 39 mile walk. On the first day you can walk up to 26.1 miles. And on the second day you can walk 13.1 miles. Another big organization  is  Making  Strides  against Breast  Cancer.  This  event is held all over the United States. So just remember October isn't just about Halloween and the Pumpkin Spice Latte, its also about rasing awareness about Breast Cancer. (:
