    Hello everybody! As you can see from the title, I am writing about Jennifer Lawrence. Now, you may be asking yourselves: Who is Jennifer Lawrence, exactly? Jennifer Lawrence is an outstanding actress who has done award-winning performances in films such as, Winter's Bone, Silver Linings Playbook, and the Hunger Games.
    Jennifer Shrader Lawrence was born on August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky. Jennifer and her two older brothers, Ben and Blaine, grew up with their parents, Gary and Karen Lawrence. Before her acting career began, Jennifer participated in different activities such as: cheerleading, field hockey, softball, and even modeling. In 2004, when she and her family were traveling in New York, she auditioned for talent and modeling agencies. Imdb.com said that, 'After conducting her first cold read, the agents told her mother that "it was the best cold read by a 14-year-old they had ever heard", and tried to convince her mother that she needed to spend the summer in Manhattan.' After another impressive audition, Jennifer was allowed to stay in New York for the summer, where she appeared in commercials and landed a role in the movie, Devil You Know(2009). Jennifer and her family moved out to Los Angeles so she could begin her acting career. She also graduated high school two years early(with a 3.9 GPA) in order to begin acting professionally.  She was cast in a sitcom called "The Bill Engvall Show"(2007) and the Poker House(2008). In 2008, her claim to fame was when she played Mariana in The Burning Plain.

Jennifer Lawrence became a famous actress who is well-known from her character roles as:

  • Elissa from House at the End of the Street (2012)
  • Tiffany from Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
  • Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games/the Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2012; 2013)
  • Rosalyn Rosenfeld from American Hustle (2013)
  Because of these movies, she has been nominated for several awards. She has won awards in categories such as: Best Breakthrough Performer (for her work in Winter's Bone), Best Female Performance, Best Female Lead, and Best Actress (including supporting roles). Jennifer Lawrence truly tries to embody her characters realistically. She once said, "...I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play. I worry about them-if someone else gets the part, I'm afraid that they won't do it right; they'll make the character a victim or they'll make her a villain or they'll just get it wrong somehow. ...When I get like that, anything's possible." She has worked her way up from commericials to major motion pictures. To quote her, "There are actresses who build themselves, and then there are actresses who are built by others. I want to build myself." So far, Jennifer Lawrence has been very successful in her career as an actress, and I hope she will continue to be.
